【マレーシア 観光 旅行 ブログ Blog】Of course Malaysia have no winter but the Chinese community will celebrate it as Winter Solstice day and family will get together and have dinner together. They even say Winter Solstice (冬至) is more important than Chinese New Year. 汤圆 is the desert MUST take on this day with the meaning of family member reunion together. Its the glue pudding or sweet dumplings by mostly handmade (but now is selling in super market) with variety of favor. I like handmade because its will not be so sweet and you can feel the elastic texture so well. In Japan, we also have the same day as 冬至 (Toji), it consider the first day of winter or the shortest day of the year. So, Japan now (DEC) is very cool winter time. In Japan, we don't celebrate but the old custom is get yourself in bathtub sink and put in Citron fruit (柚). Possibility reason is to protect yourself with warm water from the cool winter season and not get sick. Another custom is eat more pumpkin. Furthermore, to see the capybara taking hot spring bath is very familiar to Japanese for 冬至 (Toji) because they are too KAWAI!!!
