A Must for Travelers to Malaysia! Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) – For Foreign Visitors on a Tourist Visa –

Here’s an introduction to the Digital Arrival Card required for entry into Malaysia, which was introduced in January 2024.

Below is the information and eligibility criteria announced by the Immigration Department of Malaysia. It mainly applies to foreigners entering on a tourist visa without a Malaysian long-term stay visa. If you’re visiting for travel, be sure to check the requirements and complete the application in advance. The same applies even if you are entering Malaysia just for a day trip before moving on to the next country.

IMPLEMENTATION OF THE MALAYSIA DIGITAL ARRIVAL CARD (MDAC)

All foreign citizens traveling to Malaysia must complete the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC),

 except:

i) Citizens of Singapore

ii) Diplomatic and Official Passport holders

iii) Malaysian Permanent Residents and Long Term-Pass holders

iv) General Certificate of Identity (GCI) Brunei Darussalam holders

v) Brunei Malaysia Frequent Traveller Facility holders

vi) Thailand Border Pass holders; andvii) Indonesia Cross-Border Travel Document (PLB) holders.

Effective 1 January 2024, completion of this MDAC will be mandatory, except those listed above.

①Apply on the MDAC Website👉https://imigresen-online.imi.gov.my/mdac/main

②You will see this screen.

Reminder: There is a notice regarding carrying in or out large amounts of cash (over USD 10,000). If this does not apply to you, simply click the REGISTER button to proceed.

③On the next screen, you will be asked to enter your personal information and travel details.

For personal information, enter the following details:

• Full Name

• Passport Number

• Nationality

• Date of Birth

• Gender

• Passport Expiry Date

• Email Address

• Email Address (re-enter for confirmation)

• Country Code (select your country from the list)

• Mobile Phone Number

For travel information, enter the following details:

• Registration can be done within 3 days before entering Malaysia (including the date of application)

• Date of Arrival

• Mode of Travel (select from Air, Sea, or Land)

• Date of Departure

• Country of Stay before Traveling to Malaysia (select the country name)

• Flight Number, etc.

• Accommodation Type (select from Hotel, Friend’s/Relative’s Home, or Other)

• Address of Accommodation in Malaysia

• State of Accommodation in Malaysia (select)

• City of Accommodation in Malaysia (select)

• Postal Code of Accommodation in Malaysia

④Once you have entered all the information, please click the SUBMIT button.

⑤Once registration is complete, you will receive a confirmation email from mdac@imi.gov.my. Please follow the instructions in the email to review your registration details.

⑥Please print out your registration details or save a screenshot, and keep it ready for presentation at immigration control.
