Police Conduct ASEAN Summit Rehearsals
The police will implement phased traffic restrictions and management on Thursday, October 23, from 8:00 a.m. to 7:45 p.m., in line with rehearsals for the 47th ASEAN Summit and related meetings.
Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department Director Dato’ Sri Mohamad Yusri told the Malaysian News Agency (Bernama) that the rehearsals will continue until Friday to ensure that the actual schedules of international delegations proceed smoothly and in an orderly manner.
“Therefore, during the rehearsal period, the public is advised to avoid affected routes, follow the instructions of traffic police and temporary signs, and use public transportation,” he said.
“Road closures will occur only twice a day, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. and from 7:00 p.m. to 7:45 p.m., each lasting 45 minutes, to ensure that all routes, tasks, and the escorting of international delegations proceed smoothly.”
He also stated that a total of 1,111 police officers and personnel will be responsible for traffic control, VIP escort, and enforcement during the rehearsals, ensuring smooth traffic flow throughout the summit.
