[Breaking News] KLIA Aerotrain Service to Resume at 10AM on July 1!
The long-awaited aerotrain at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) is finally set to resume operations.
Service Resumption Date: Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at 10:00 AM
With this, passengers will once again be able to travel smoothly between the Main Terminal Building and the Satellite Terminal, without relying on shuttle buses.
■ Suspension for Over 2 Years
The KLIA Aerotrain service was fully suspended in March 2023 due to a series of technical failures.
Trains broke down midway.
Rescue trains also experienced issues.
Passengers were even forced to walk to the satellite terminal.
As a result, shuttle buses have been used for passenger transfers for over two years.
■ Major Infrastructure Upgrade Completed
This resumption comes after several years of large-scale infrastructure upgrades. The construction hoardings have already been removed, and the brand-new aerotrain service will officially begin operation at 10:00 AM on July 1.
🚆Train Operation Plan
After the service resumes, three train sets will be in operation. During peak hours, two trains will run simultaneously. From midnight to 5:00 AM, only one train will operate to allow for maintenance work.
🛡️Safety Measures in Place
Before resuming operations, one train successfully completed 2,000km of fault-free running, while the other two trains completed 1,000km each. Emergency response drills were also conducted with the relevant authorities to ensure full preparedness for safe operations.
🌏 Part of Preparations as ASEAN Chair Country
In 2025, Malaysia serves as the ASEAN Chair and hosts the ASEAN Summit and related meetings throughout the year. The resumption of the aerotrain is part of the country's infrastructure readiness to support these major events and is expected to enhance KLIA's convenience and Malaysia’s international image.
■ Benefits for Passengers
Smoother transfers between terminals when using international flights
Significantly reduced stress when carrying luggage
Improved convenience and international reputation for KLIA
Great news for those visiting Malaysia for tourism, business, or study.
