The Valiram family to acquire TRX mall and office for approximately RM1.1 billion

Another major development appears to be unfolding in TRX (Tun Razak Exchange), one of the most closely watched areas in central Kuala Lumpur. According to reports, the family office of Malaysia’s Valiram family is set to acquire stakes in The Exchange TRX mall and the adjacent TRX Campus Office from Lendlease.

The transaction is valued at approximately RM1.1 billion. Under the deal, the acquisition will cover Lendlease’s 40% stake in the TRX mall and its entire 60% interest in the office component.

Lendlease has confirmed that it has brought in a new Malaysian family office as a capital partner for the project, describing the move as part of its capital recycling strategy. The company also noted that the transaction reflects growing investor confidence in the long-term prospects of the TRX precinct.

The deal is expected to be completed in the second half of FY2026. Lendlease has reportedly been seeking partners since early 2025 for the TRX mall as well as several undeveloped plots within the precinct. Once fully completed, the total gross development value of the TRX projects is estimated at around RM11 billion.

Following the transaction, Lendlease will retain a 20% stake in The Exchange TRX mall, while the remaining 40% will be held by TRX City Sdn Bhd, an entity linked to Malaysia’s Ministry of Finance. For the TRX Campus Office, the Valiram family will hold a 60% stake, with TRX City retaining the balance.

With both domestic and international capital continuing to flow into TRX, Malaysia’s economy appears set to maintain solid momentum heading into 2026.
